Let Google know you’re in the UK
Having a .com site is fine, because it is a universal domain, but when are a specific UK site who only sells to the UK market, you are going to need the site to be right up there on the site rankings for the UK. But what happens when the site turns up on the first page of a dot com search, but when it comes to the .co.uk search engine the site is way down on the fifteenth page?
But if Google.co.uk is checked a lot of the sites are not specifically UK based either, so the problem is not just whether they know that your business is located in the UK, that is not the main criteria. The point for search is links and the more links from UK companies means a better position.
So telling Google that you are a UK based business is not going to make much difference at all. There is an additional problem; this is coming from the hosting companies. A lot of these are not based in the UK which could also add to the problems.
